When I was born the miseries of my family had reached their climax (if ever a climax can be attained by misery) and so was the English rule in this country reaching its zenith. I saw the world at a glance all busy with the worship of the all curing deity of gold. But some strong inherent impulse, the characteristic of Malik Sher’s posterity, decided for me the other way. The way to accomplishment. The way of sweat and tears, of labour and hunger, of patience and endurance, a long orduous, unknown way. But in a secret pleasure and innate satisfaction and a celestial grace lies the compensation that adds to the confidence and justifies the labour. With a formidable list of books and treatises in various languages (Arabic, Persian, English and Urdu) and a vast world open for observation. I toiled day after day, month after month, year after Year, without a guide or tutor except the merciful Allah himself; to seek knowledge; knowledge of the East and West; knowledge Divine and Secular, the truth revealing and truth inspiring region the unfailing beacon of ethereal light; the problem seeking philosophies, the subtle claimants of their truth, the hard loaded matter of fact secular science, the subhuman and infallible guide to the materialist world. The literatures, the all –assuming wonderful painters of human wish and thought, mirth and woe.

The more I drank, tormented by insatiate thirst, the less assuaged remained the thirst insatiate. A feeling of restraint grips my pen. I must abstain from swelling too much on the subject, lest he amiable limits of modesty are transgressed and the reproachable realm of self-praise is entered. All what is meant is that a life has been spent un- regrettable pursuit of knowledge, though not undisturbed, due to the equally impelling need for subsistence and a regular work to procure that. But  Strange are the ways of a possessed mind. All my life I kept a view of poverty and restraint. Poverty self-imposed. Fearing lest assuaged and lazed by the muddy waters of the road side pond of a luxuriant life I may succumb to the temptation and die an ibnoble death on my orduous and dangerous way to the immortalizing spring of Elixir in the dark fearful dives of an unknown realm of strange allurement. And such is the intensity of a desire to acquire knowledge and to impart it to others that during the last three years despite the fore knowledge that no such effort in this country would be repaid either by money or gratitude. I have part from the immense expenditures of a fortune almost killed myself with worry and fatigue in a successful bid to develop a process of cement manufacture on small scale to suit the specific circumstances of Pakistan and other identical countries in regard to their peculiar situation of raw materials, fuels labour and machinery and where a team of foreign experts of the caliber of Sir Charles Davis, Sir Perry Giorourd and Dr. Jeoffray Martin with huge sums of money and innumerable technical facilities (so essential for the successful execution of a work of experimental nature) would have carried out the task in a fitting manner. I alone with the help of God almighty sustain (Ned and supported by spirited zeal, unfailing enthusiasm and unshakable faith succeeded in my mission (myself on the verge of collapse that when examined by a knowledge person, each different heading.i.e

(a)   The curtailment of the capital investment to a trifling Minimum.

a.      The manner of utility and employment of national sources of raw material.

(b)   Employment of Pakistan made machinery etc.

The marvelous results obtained (that are treated in detail in a book full of valuable experimental data, not yet made public would prove to be a source of help to the expert and joy to the industrialist and consumer. How far I have succeeded can be judged from the results but how far a country or countries can benefit from it is a matter of E spirit de enterprise.

That the spirit of enterprise is backing in our country is manifest from the existence of this much clamored about lake of ours.
