"Woe unto every slandering traducer, who gathereth wealth (of this world) and arrangeth it. He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. Nay, but verily he will be cast into al-Hotama. Ah! What will convey unto thee, what Al-Hotama is! (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled, which leapeth up over the hearts. Lo! It is closed in on them in outstretched columns”. (Quran-104- Al-Homaza)
To this world it may come as a surprise to see that the Quran has prophecied atom bomb. This prophecy is in the form of a warning, hence avertable. It is only a warning, and not a decree preordained. The Quran has given in most succinct and most explicit of the terms the causes that are responsible for the emergence of atom bomb, and therefore, removal of these causes would ensure the disappearance of the effect. The description of the atomic hell in this prophecy is primarily concerned with the next world. But just as fire and garden represent hell and paradise respectively, this atomic explosion is the replica of the atomic hell of the next world. The innocent victims of atomic bombs in this world may be compensated in the next world, but the maladies responsible for atomic conflagration could be seen almost universally, and so is the Quran’s prophecy concerned with universality and generality.
It says:-
“Woe to every backbiter, defamer, who amasseth wealth (of this world) and arrangeth it (against the future). He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. Nay, for verily he will be cast into Al-Hotama and what could teach thee what Al-Hotama is? It is fire of Allah enkindled which leaps up onto the hearts. It is (a fire) closed in on them in outstretched columns.” (Quran –Civ. Al-Homaza)
Al-Hotama is a particular kind of hell in the next eternal world. The atomic hell (that is, the atomic bombs and atomic radiations), is the transient representation of the eternal Hotama of the next eternal world, Justas ordinary fire is of hell in general, and so is Garden of paradise. ? The characteristics of the fire of Al-Hotama and those of the atomic hell of this world; and the causes of the punishment in Al-Hotama and the causes of the appearance of atomic energy on earth are all the same. Deservedly perishing in the atomic hell therefore, should expect the flames of Al-Hotama: the eternal Hotama of the next eternal world. Dreadful be though the torment of the atomic hell, yet being transient in nature, it must end one day, but dread the eternal torment of the next eternal life. Mark in our characterization of the atomic energy by the Quran in the following pages, features that distinguish the atomic energy from every other type of energy. Mark also the distinguishing features of the philosophy of modern atomism in our discussion of the causes of the appearance of atomic energy as are given by the Quran.
That a scripture should do all this fourteen centuries in advance in an age of no science at a time when the revival of atomism in the world could have been least expected, is a miracle, rather a miracle of miracles, and far more surprising than the discovery of atomic energy and the building of atomic bombs, and indeed is far more powerful. The appeals of the scientists having failed, the attention of the politicians having been involved in the thoughts of integrity and economy of their co countries in the universal, heated, headlong race toward the atomic hell and clearly this world having reached almost on the brink of atomic destruction, Allah, the Merciful God may be praised for his kindness in keeping the correct warning and the correct guidance. Which alone is now the ray of hope for this distressed mankind. No Einstein or Chadwick is needed to endorse the amazing characterization of the atomic energy as has been shown by the Quran, yet full realization of the extent of the keen sightedness of the scripture, and the full appreciation of the degree of discernment would have been for the Einstein and the Chadwick and like of them to have. So also will the knowing philosopher recognize the characteristics features of modern atomism in the causes of the appearance of atomic energy as are given by the Quran. This discovery , as well as the entire work in this respect that ranges over about thirteen hundred pages in continuity, is indeed by the Grace of God Al-mighty my own. None did either know, or have any share in the blood-curdling and lengthy ordeal. Here I present but the sheer nucleus of a world of the entire work.
The Quran characterizes the atomic energy:-
“What could teach thee what Al-Hotama is? It is fire of Allah enkindled, which leaps up onto the hearts. It is (a fire) closed in on them in outstretched columns.” (Quran-Civ- Al-Homaza)
The characteristics of the fire of Al-Hotama are:-
That it is Hotama. Hotama means crusher, breaker.
That is leaps up onto the hearts.
That it has encompassing features.
That it raises column.
Now all these four characteristics of the fire of Al-Hotama are clearly the distinguishing characteristics of atomic energy. We will treat these points one by one.
The Quran says Hotama. Hotama means crusher, break, this must recall to the mind of the atomist the German term, BREMSSTRAGLUN, coined for the continuous spectrum of rays, and literally meaning the breaking radiation. Hotama is a descriptive noun formed from the root-verb Hatama which means to break something to pieces. Hotama thus means a crusher, a breaker. And so also the atomic energy is a crusher, a breaker as will show:-
(A) Atomic energy is generated by crushing the binding of the atomic nucleus, the binding which keeps the nucleons of the atomic nucleus closely packed together. No other type of energy is generated in this manner, and thus it is the distinguishing characteristic of the atomic energy. Further the atomic energy disintegrates the atomic nucleus without any possibility of the reproduction of the disintegrated nucleus either by rearranging the nucleons of the disintegrated nucleus in their original order or by reproducing the nucleus by some method of synthesis. The atomic radiation breaks the chrisoms of the cell nucleus, also without any means of repair of the broken chromosomes. And thus because atomic energy crushes the basic structure of the basic building block of the universe, that is atom, as well as the basic unit of life, that is cell, without any hope of restitution, the atomic energy could be termed as the absolute crusher. This again is the distinguishing characteristic of atomic energy. Substances consumed by chemical fire can be reproduced by some method of synthesis. The chemical energy leaves the atomic nuclei untouched and intact.
(B) All the three manifestations of the atomic bomb explosion, namely, the heat flash, the blast and the radiations are crushers in a degree and extent far greater than the conventional bomb explosions.
(C) Atomic radiations crush the atomic nuclei in inanimate matter and cause transmutations, while in the living body they eject nucleons from atomic nuclei and they attack the cell nucleus and break the chromosomes.
The terminology of atomic physics is indicative of the crushing trait of the atomic energy actions, and the standard text books of atomic physics are found to be replete with phrases like, bombarding, crashing, smashing, hitting, colliding breaking etc. In describing the actions of the atomic energy. Similarly the terminology of radiobiology is indicative of the crushing trait of radiations. Terms like, the target concept, direct action, indirect action, and similes like, snapping the cable with a bullet, and sentences like, Radiations hit the cells like sledge hammer and crush them in the description of the actions of radiations, produce sufficient evidence touching the crushing trait of the atomic energy and the realization on the part of the radiobiologist thereof.
(D) The Quran says: Hotama is afire which leaps up onto the hearts. And so does atomic energy. We will show how.
(ii) In the fission process of the atomic energy generation, the atomic particles, which are fire, leap up onto the atomic nuclei. In fusion process of atomic energy generation, the heat produced by the inner fission device is directed onto the atomic nuclei of the fusile material. The Quran has used the word heart, whereas the scientist has appropriated the word nucleus. These two words are synonymous. We need no exertions to prove the identity between these two words. The authority of the scientist himself is there to prove the point. The most conservatively standard books of atomic physics call the nucleus as the heart. We will quote but two examples:-
(a) “Each fast particle comes from the breakup of the very heart of a single atom … the nucleus of the radioactive material”.(Vide Physic, physical science study committee, second edition, D.C. Heath and Company Lexington, Massachusetts. July 1965, page 130)
(a) “How many nuclear heart-beats are there in the life-time of radioactive nucleus which lasts but billionth of a second”. (Ibid: page 21 – short problems)
Atomic Radiations and the Hearts:-
Radiations affect the function of the coordination at the level where it is beyond the control of the brain, to mean that they attack at the level of the heart of life itself. The exceptional attraction of radiations for all that which is related to heart in anyway in the body has been observed. Bone-marrow and all the blood-forming organs are more sensitive to radiations than brain, nerves and muscles. All the multi-cellular organisms are more sensitive to the effect of radiation than all the unicellular organisms. This may be ascribed to the fact that the multi-cellular organisms are possessed of more elaborate circulatory and respiratory systems than the unicellular organism. The action of radiations is retarded in the absence of oxygen. Now the relation of bone marrow, blood forming organs, circulatory and respiratory systems and oxygen to heart is well known through blood. They are all blood relations.
Atomic energy thus can be termed as the nuclear and the thermonuclear crusher, Justas Al-Hotama is. It has to be observed that the atomic energy more properly the nuclear energy has this characteristic of leaping up onto the hearts as a distinguishing characteristic, for no other kind of energy reaches the nuclear ones of matter.
The Quran says: Hotama is fire closed in on them”. The atomic energy has encompassing features too. The inverted cauldron like atomic bomb explosions with extensive enclosures of radioactive fallout around enclosure upon enclosure and the global fallout of the megaton thermonuclear bomb, the extreme tenacity of the bone-seeking radioactive substances in the bones even after patient’s death, the appearance of cancers from six to thirty years after actual exposure to radiation. The appearance of the effects of radiation in anaphase, although the attack of radiation on the cell has been in the resting stage of the cell, the encompassment of whole body by radiation in spite of the irradiation of one organ only, the survival of the lethally irradiated frogs for month instead of the usual time interval of three to six weeks if kept in a dormant state in a temperature just above the freezing point and the sudden appearance of radiation symptoms in case the cooled frogs are warmed up the suggestion of Alexander Haddow’s that the cancer producing action of the cancer producing substances may be the result of prolonged interference with normal growth, and particularly the feature of encompassing the mankind, the animal species and plants by radiation to generations through radio genetic effects, encompassing this earth after having made life on it extinct to millions of years according to the half-life of radioactive substances, are the features which break the encompassing trait of radiation.
The Quran says outstretched columns”. The outstretched column has become a symbolical feature of the atomic bomb explosion. Ando it is not only the atomic bomb that raises the column. The columns in the invisible world of radioactive atomic particles can be calculated too. Rather the world of radioactive atomic particles is a world of columns. So unproportionally high are the jumps of the atomic particles in comparison to their size, that according to the general standards observable in the visible world that may be justly termed as columns. The alpha particle that has jumped to the height of four centimeters has risen to a height millions of millions of times its own diameter. A football or a shell rising in such a proportion to its own size would rise to heights far into counter space. The two hundred yards, travel of the Gamma rays in air means something unimaginably large. Even a neutron during the fission chain reaction rising from one nucleus to another has traverse d a distance more than ten thousand times its own diameter, and if left unchecked by the absorbing nucleus. It would travel greater distances. The millions of miles high columns of the cosmic rays coming to the earth from the outer space would complete the picture. And so fast is the speed of these particles, a nearing that of light, that their appearance and disappearance would appear to our eye as a column in flash.
The Quran says what could teach thee what al-Hotama is?
No doubt such is the measure of the complexity and difficulty of the subject of nuclear phenomena .that the question what could teach thee what the subject of nuclear science is, could well be put to the nuclear scientist and surely his answer would be, nothing. So is the terribleness of the atomic phenomena, extreme, indeed inexpressibly, and incomprehensibly extreme. Atomic hell, however, is the replica of the eternal Hotama of the next world.
The Quran characterizes the modern atomism:
Following are the characteristics of modern Baconian atomism. That constitutes the causes whose logical and scientific consequence is appearance of atomic energy with its atomic bombs and atomic radiations, that is, the atomic hell, the temporal replica of the eternal Hotelman of the next eternal world. The modern atomism in the form of a creed stands in opposition to every faith as an exclusive creed of world and worldly utility against the basis, doctrinal other worldliness of every other faith that appeared in history.
The Quran says:-
“Woe to every backbiter, defamer, who amasseth wealth (of this world) and arrangeth it (against the future). He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. Nay, for verily he will be cast into Al-Hotama: (Quran Civ Al-Homaza)
The Quran says:-
“Woe to every backbiter, defamer.”
Ancient atomism was a glaring calumny against the doctrines of faith, while the modern atomism has changed the meanings of the word “propaganda’ from mere propagation to defaming.
The Quran says:-
“He amaseth wealth of this world and arrangeth it against the future”.
Now see if it is not the exact description of the modern science. Guided, machine-ridden, continuous, systematic, ever-increasing and infinite progress, the exclusive of acquiring, arranging, and accumulating wealth of this world, and physical comforts, and based on Bacon’s design of man’s dominion over nature for material utility through continuous and systematic research of science as man’s actual business on earth. Who will miss that this modern age is the age of systematic accumulation and wealth arrangement.
The Quran says:-
“He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal”
The ancient atomism considered this universe as eternal and therefore the sole abode of man. The modern atomism is so over –engrossed in the matter of world, and is so over-solicitous about the durability and perpetuity of the works of the world, that it appears as if man forever had to live in this world. And this exactly is the meaning of the expression. He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. It means that he is so ever-solicitous about the objects of his material wealth. Factories, gardens, buildings etc. and is so particular about their stability as if he thinks that he had to live in this world forever.
The Quran says: “Nay, for verily he will be cast into Al-Hotama”
No doubt the atomic energy with all its brood of atomic bombs and atomic radiations, has appeared on a particular, punctual point in the course of the research conducted mainly rather exclusively with the purpose of acquiring wealth of this world. And now the same necessity which had been the cause of the appearance of atomic energy ensures its stay in the world despite the knowledge of its disastrous hazards. Like the three ingredients of gun-power, the three causes have produced the atomic fire. No doubt the atomic energy has appeared like the logical and scientific consequence of the Baconian, science-guided, wealth acquiring and wealth accumulating, and wealth increasing process. Will then this mankind pay heed and be saved from the flames of atomic hell.
